How to set up a Wi-Fi extender ?
Setting up a Wi-Fi extender is simple, but it’s important to take the right steps for best performance. First, put the extender into a power outlet near your router. Connect to the extender with a device such as your phone or computer, generally by Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. Most extenders have a setup wizard, which can be accessed via a web browser or app and will walk you through the process of connecting the extender to your existing network. Once connected, you can relocate the extender to a more suitable spot while still receiving a solid signal from the router.
Here are the basic steps:
- Connect the extender to an outlet near your router.
- Connect your device to the extender’s network (usually branded).
- Go to the setup page using a browser or app and follow the steps.
- Connect the extender to your home’s Wi-Fi network.
- Place the extender halfway between your router and the weak signal area.
